TOO HOT TO HANDLE?

WITH THE SUN TURNING UP THE HEAT, EMMA KEEPS HER COOL…

Above: Throwing water over one's in summer isn't always an option

With all this fabulous weather we’ve been enjoying, it has been the perfect time to indulge in alfresco evening shenanigans.

But with this heat comes the inevitable glow – this really isn’t a good look, especially if you’re meeting up with that special someone.

But, like any good beauty guru, I’ve been delving through my secret stash of goodies to see what products I can put to good use.

The product that won’t leave my handbag is Urban Decay De-Slick, £15, a handy mattifying powder that will stop me looking like the Wicked Witch Of The East after coming face to face with a bucket of water.

This really was my lifesaver when I ventured to the fantastic Summer Screen at Somerset House (www.somersethouse.org.uk) for champagne, a great movie and a date that was even hotter than the temperature.

This sweltering heat has made me paranoid that my make-up will slide off if I get too warm and that really isn’t a good look if you’re trying to impress.

So I’ve pared down my make-up considerably by channelling Alexa Chung’s look.

Is it just me or is she the most painfully stylish person ever?

Just an even base, a feline flick of liner on the upper lid – Max Factor High Definition Eyeliner Pen, £6 is a wonderful choice – and a dab of colour on the cheeks – BeneFit’s Thrrrob, £22.50, works well – is all I need.

Put it all together, with a bit of brown mascara and it really is the simplest way to look chic - even in the heat.

Now there’s no excuse for looking hot and bothered while the temperatures soar!
