David Van Day, who has just entered the competition, riled his fellow camp mates when he refused to sleep in a cave.

The 54-year-old former singer said he thought one of the original campers should give up their bed and sent Blue hunk Simon Webbe into a rage.

The 30-year-old singer shouted: Martina volunteered to go down there and I did. You refused to see the cave. Don’t come in here and tell me it’s my ego.”

Simon was backed up by former Eastender Joe Swash, who added: “It’s up to us whether we volunteer our bed to somebody else.”

Outnumbered by the angry campers, David was forced to back own and joined Timmy Mallet who had nominated himself to sleep in the cave as he didn’t already have a bed.

But David didn’t go quietly, saying: “It feels like I’m being bullied into this.”
