But as the victims are all despicable criminals, Turk (De Niro) and Rooster (Al Pacino) find themselves sympathising with the murderer. Twists and turns follow…

What’s good? It’s fantastic to see two such heavyweight actors team up again, and the screen veterans prove they’ve still got it.

There’s a decent support cast, too – Carla Gugino puts in a sexy turn as Turk’s younger girlfriend and Donnie Wahlberg has played a cop so many times now he can do it in his sleep.

What’s bad? It’s violent and disturbing in parts, and apart from the stars, it feels more like a DVD movie than a blockbuster.

OK! verdict: The stars shine brighter than the script in this thriller.
