Certificate 12A / Director Joshua Michael Stern / Starring Kevin Costner, Madeline Carroll, Paula Patton

What’s it all about? What if the final outcome of the US presidential elections came down to one man’s vote?

And what if that man was a lazy, beer-swilling single dad who spent all day in bed?

Kevin Costner’s the man in question when a technical glitch means he can recast his vote, and it’s the one that could change everything.

As candidates start clamouring for his vote, will the attention and freebies go to his head or will he see sense, think about the fate of his country and do the right thing?

What’s good? This is an entertaining and thought-provoking film – the terrific concept really keeps you hooked.

It’s amusing seeing the world’s media descend on this small-town boozer, and it’s gripping waiting to see what will happen.

Madeline Carroll puts in a standout turn as the smart daughter who may actually be the one in control. Kelsey Grammer is also fab as the slightly smarmy president who may not be as corrupt as he first seems.

What’s bad? A few scenes are a bit too schmaltzy, and several are over the top – surely politicians wouldn’t about-turn on their biggest promises just to get one man’s vote? Or would they?

OK! verdict: Featuring a great performance from Kevin Costner, this makes politics fun while still giving you plenty to chew on.
