NATTY: MAN LIKE I

4/5

Posted: Tuesday 5 Aug 2008

What you need to know… An album of relaxed summer vibes from the much-hyped young Londoner.

First impressions… The fact that Natty takes his name from a classic Bob Marley album will give you a pretty strong hint about the general vibe on his debut Man Like I.

Yep, fans of sun-soaked, chilled-out reggae will love it.

But there’s also a lot more going on here, as you’d expect from someone with an African mother and an Italian-English father.

Badman is a fantastic clash of reggae, rock and Afrobeat, while Revolution is a pretty acoustic ballad and singles July and Coloured Souls have a sweet pop edge. Man, we like Man Like I!

You’ll like this if you like… Sean Kingston, Dirty Pretty Things, The Specials.

Our favourite track… Coloured Souls.

Did you know? Natty used to work as a recording studio engineer and a few years ago spent three months working on Razorlight’s debut album.

OK! verdict… Laid-back and lovely.
