Above: Sunshine is great for you in small doses
Is it true that a little bit of sunshine is actually good for you?
Sunshine provides 80 to 100 per cent of our requirement of vitamin D, which is essential for healthy bones.
A recent study revealed that an adequate vitamin D intake reduces the risk of cancer by up to 30 per cent.
As little as ten to 15 minutes of midday sunlight two or three times a week between April and October can supply all the vitamin D you need for the whole year.
I’m worried I’ll put on weight when I’m on holiday – how can I avoid this?
Stick to a balanced diet with plenty of seasonal fruit and vegetables and don’t overdo the alcohol.
A holiday is a chance to take a well-earned break and that includes your daily fitness routine, but that doesn’t mean you have to forgo any form of exercise.
Walking is a great option – whether it’s along the beach or sightseeing in a city.
