Above: Kate (Fey) and Angie’s (Poehler) opposite worlds collide
Certificate 12A, Director Michael McCullers, Starring Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Dax Shepard, Sigourney Weaver, Steve Martin, Greg Kinnear
What’s it all about? Tina Fey stars as Kate, a 37-year-old single businesswoman who’s desperate for a child. Enter kooky white-trash surrogate mother Angie (Poehler), who insists on moving in with Kate and turning her life upside down.
What’s good? Loudmouthed Angie is a funny character, opposite the uptight Kate, and has a laid-back attitude to pregnancy and life in general.
The personality clash leads to a few laugh-out-loud moments – as do supporting characters like Sigourney Weaver as a
freaky surrogacy agency boss.
What’s bad? The story meanders around without much direction. There’s a better film in here somewhere, and you wish they’d worked harder to let it out.
OK! verdict: The latest pregnancy comedy is a laugh, but it’s no Juno
