Above: Union (Olsen) chats with Dr Squires (Kingsley)

Certificate 15 Director Jonathan Levine Starring Ben Kingsley, Josh Peck, Olivia Thirlby, Mary-Kate Olsen, Famke Janssen

What’s it all about? One summer during the 90s, misfit teen Luke (Peck) deals drugs using an ice-cream trolley
as cover.

During his rounds, he befriends a psychiatrist Dr Squires (Kingsley) and his daughter Stephanie (Juno’s Thirlby), and they teach him lessons about life and love.

What’s good? If you’re after a fun, quirky watch, look no further than this original, witty drama that has the power to surprise.

The strange friendship between Dr Squires and Luke is intriguing and funny, while Thirlby shows she is shaping up to be quite an actress.

Watch out for a fun cameo from Mary-Kate Olsen as a dreadlocked hippy who catches Dr Squires’ eye.

Josh Peck is spot-on as the slightly gawky but sweet and romantic Luke, and Kingsley is fab as the hilariously deluded eccentric going through a midlife crisis.

What’s bad? It’s downbeat and not exactly positive about relationships, so don’t come here looking for easy answers and happy endings.

OK! verdict: This edgy, offbeat filmis a fun watch and it mixes established actors and ones to watch with great results
