Certificate 18
Directors Oxide Pang Chun, Danny Pang
Starring Nicolas Cage, Shaun Delaney, Panward Hemmanee, Dom Hetrakul, Charlie Yeung
What’s it all about? This Hollywood remake of the hit Thai crime thriller stars Nicolas Cage as Joe, a hit man who is devoted to his work.
His cold heart begins to melt when he employs a child pickpocket to help him. But soon danger comes calling and Joe must use all his cunning to protect his new charge.
What’s good? This has the same directors as the original film, which is a good start. There’s loads of action, twists and turns, and romance as well when Joe starts to fall for a local shop girl. The Bangkok setting is also fun.
What’s bad? They have made a few changes to the original. The Thai film was about a deaf-mute hit man, which made him particularly interesting. Obviously, Nic had to get a word in…
OK! verdict: A gritty, nail-biting story makes this remake a fun watch.
