Lately my schedule has been on the stupid side of hectic.
The summer has been full of events, parties and of course catching up with friends – and my head was spinning like Linda Blair’s in the Exorcist – although happily without the terrifying green pallor.
Sensing a slight lull in activity I vowed in advance to keep last weekend clear of any commitments, so the pages in my diary were, for weeks, guarded with a chastity belt like a force-field forbidding me to write on them – nothing was getting in.
A relaxed weekend sounded like fun, but I have to admit that once I’d enjoyed the obligatory Saturday morning lie-in I found it all rather dull.
I decided to venture to the gym for a workout, before convincing myself that a long bath, something I rarely do, would be an enjoyable way to spend an hour or so.
But as I pottered around the flat I couldn’t help but feel like the outside world was calling me to come and join it.
But, my resolve was strong and on Saturday evening I shunned cocktails and bar-hopping for X Factor and nail painting – which led me discover my new favourite nail varnish, Revlon Nail Enamel in Valentine, £6.29.
It’s a wonderfully bloody red that shines so brilliantly it looks as though your nails have been painted from the fangs of a devilish vampire.
Even with my unsteady hand it looked as though they’d been tended to by a professional – such was the beauty of the brush and varnish.
Needless to say, I had just the thing in my wardrobe to match my new nails and I was out on the town before you could say ‘top coat’.
