WHAT A SEXY CITY!

OK! FOLLOWS THE TRAIL OF THE SATC LADIES IN NEW YORK...

Above: Get close to the SATC ladies in New York City

SLIP on those Manolos, order a Cosmopolitan and get ready, girls, for the long-awaited Sex And The City film – starring four of our favourite ladies – kooky Carrie, prim Charlotte, maternal Miranda and sex kitten Samantha – as it comes to a cinema near you.

And if watching the film doesn’t assuage your SATC craving then why not plan a girlie trip to the Big Apple?

With New York’s fabulous boutiques, chic bars, ultra-stylish restaurants and sassy hotels, you too can be the star in your very own urban drama.

WHAT SHOULD 'SATC' FANS DO?
For die-hard fans of the hit TV series, top of the list should be the three-hour SATC sightseeing tour.

Starting at the Pulitzer Fountain, it lifts the lid on many of the addresses and landmarks that appeared in the show.

A highlight was munching on a scrumptious cupcake from Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker Street – just like Carrie and Miranda did in the series – and quaffing Cosmopolitans at one of the girls’ old haunts.

But make sure you boff up on your SATC knowledge before the tour – there were some diehard fans next to OK! that put us to shame when the guide ran a fun mini-quiz!

If you want a more intimate tour with your girlfriends, pick one of the four Do Something Different (www.dosomethingdifferent.com) SATC-style limo tours around the city.

WHERE CAN I HAVE AN 'SATC' EXPERIENCE?
New York ladies are always groomed from top to toe, and truth be told, OK! felt a bit scruffy in comparison.

So we took a trip to the ultra-glam Frédéric Fekkai salon (www.fekkai.com) in Soho. Frédéric counts Salma Hayek, Pénelope Cruz and Naomi Watts among his celebrity clients.

A haircut from the man himself will set you back just under £400, but you can get a ‘blow out’ from one of his fabulous employees for around £30.

Want peach-perfect skin like SATC’s Charlotte?

Then make a trip to a Bliss (www.blissworld.com) salon also in Soho.

The beauticians are ultra-discreet about their celebrity clients, but word on the street is that their Triple Oxygen Treatment facial is a hit with the city’s A-listers.

WHERE SHOULD I STAY?
Obviously the SATC girls have got their own lavish apartments or brownstone townhouses (both Carrie and Sarah Jessica Parker, in real life, live in ones in the West Village), but for those of us that aren’t so lucky there are plenty of chic boutique hotels.

Among the best is The Bowery Hotel (www.theboweryhotel.com).

Since its opening last year the 135-room hotel has seen its fair share of star guests.

The Beckhams stayed here for New York Fashion Week last year, and Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx likes the hotel so much that he and his girlfriend have had matching tattoos of the Bowery Boy logo!

OK! loved star-spotting at the hotel’s chic Italian restaurant Gemma and hanging out at the bar, sipping the hotel’s signature cocktail the Bowery Boy – a heady combination of gin, bitters and Dubonnet topped off with champers.

We also adored mooching round the trendy boutiques nearby – we even spotted Oscar-winner Adrien Brody doing the same!

WHERE SHOULD I SHOP?
You’ll find quirky boutiques in Soho but if you head to Fifth and Madison Avenues in uptown Manhattan you’ll find all the designer labels and world-famous department stores such as Bergdorf Goodman – a huge fashion and lifestyle emporium that carries everything from Kiehl’s toiletries to Manolo Blahnik’s colourful stilettos.

Another place to visit is Tiffany’s, where SATC’s Charlotte got her engagement ring, and the perfect place to buy some bling. Meanwhile, the SATC girls, both on and off screen, are fans of the wrap dresses found in the Diane Von Furstenberg store on Washington Street.

And fans must drop into the eclectic store owned by Patricia Field, the stylist behind the SATC girls’ costumes, located on the same street as The Bowery Hotel.

You may end up leaving with an Eiffel Tower handbag just like Carrie’s!

WHERE SHOULD I EAT?
Want to follow in the Jimmy Choo-shod footsteps of the SATC girls? Then make sure you have a Cosmopolitan at Tao (www.taorestaurant.com) – where Carrie had a run-in with Mr Big’s date, followed by dinner at Buddakhan (www.buddakannyc.com).

The sweeping staircase and cavernous rooms make an appearance in the SATC film, and the modern Asian cuisine is lip-smackingly good.

If Japanese is more your style, then pay a visit to Buddakhan’s sister restaurant – Morimoto (www.morimotonyc.com).

Here OK! sipped lychee cocktails and nibbled on kobe beef carpaccio.

A fan of European fare?

Then make sure you eat at the acclaimed Allen & Delancey restaurant on the Lower East Side (www.allenanddelancey.net).

The food is delicious and you can wash it down with a glass or two of the Delancey signature cocktail – Prosecco, pomegranate juice and elderflower liqueur.

If you prefer pizza and live music, head down to The Cutting Room (www.thecuttingroomnyc.com), co-owned by Chris Noth, aka Mr Big.

The Bemelmans Bar in the luxe Carlyle Hotel (www.thecarlyle.com), has a starring role in the film in a scene where Carrie and her assistant (played by Dreamgirls’ Jennifer Hudson) have a heart to heart.

Finally, make sure you visit Brasserie 44 in the swish Royalton Hotel (www.royaltonhotel.com), for lunch or a cheeky cocktail or two. It was also the venue for the SATC film wrap party.

HOW DO I GET THERE?
STA Travel (0871 230 8512; www.statravel.co.uk) offers flights from London Heathrow to New York from £263 return.

The cost of the Sex And The City tour starts from £20 per person when booked through STA Travel.

A double room at The Bowery Hotel (www.theboweryhotel.com) costs from £260 per night.
