BADGERS SAVED BY GOVERNMENT DECISION

Posted: Friday 4 Jul 2008

THIS photo show a baby badger cub, representing a victorious day for the endangered species.

Previously, Environment Secretary Hilary Benn suggested a badger cull to tackle TB in cattle, which causes 28,000 to be slaughtered each year.

The nocturnal animals act as a reservoir for the disease, but today’s action stops harm coming to them. Farmers, however, are calling the decision ‘disastrous’.
