Stipe Cavlovic was with his wife when they got caught up in a row between two men and a shot was fired towards them.

The 37-year-old watched in shock as the bullet grazed his wife's cheek and hurtled towards him.

But instead of killing him instantly it became lodged in his dentures - exactly as it's done in the famous magic trick.

Mr Cavlovic said: "I thought I was dead for sure…I didn't even see the bullet hit my wife. I just saw the flash of the gun's barrel.

"The next thing I knew was something hit my false tooth and I spat out the hot lead. It hurt like hell but we're both still alive."

Croatian police say the bullet lost speed when it hit the 37-year-old's wife's cheek.

The gunman fled in terror after witnessing Mr Cavlovic's would-be super powers before being caught and arrested a few hours later.
